Viewfinder: Christmas in July for the Homeless

The Faith Project, founded by Snellville resident Lakeisha Johnson, hosted a Christmas in July for the homeless. Our Patch photographer offers a glimpse inside the event.

On Wednesday, July 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Lakeisha Johnson and The Faith Project hosted a at . 

Johnson and a host of volunteers set up stations and events throughout the day.

Participants were treated to complimentary hairstyles by volunteer stylists from , they got the opportunity to shop for clothing, shoes and accessories from Corey's Closet, received a hot meal in Faith's Cafe, and were given personal hygiene packs, massages, manicures and more.

The event was a day of service and fun for those who need it most.

Melba Johnson, one of the participants, just graduated from court reporters school with a 3.82 average. She's preparing for externships, and she needed a business suit. She got that and a hairstyle at The Faith Project's Christmas in July -- she said it will "make all the difference in the world."
